You have a missing gtk theme engine
Theming engine 'unico' not found
apart from that there isn't anything related to the crash, this probably indicates a X issue instead, does ubuntu log X to /var/log ? if so post it. You could also /var/log for a dmesg log.
Please use Pastebin or something next time instead of posting that huge wall of output directly in here.
@leigh123linux That happened after I changed the theme, but before that the problem existed.
@JosephMcc Sorry, you're right, I will install the pastebin plugin right now.
I have exactly the same issue but with Intel 5500U. Everything completely freezes and the only solution is to press the power button for 10 seconds.

My son's laptop and my work desktop freeze regularly. We've memorized Alt-PrintScrn-REISUB. I've tried a few things to restart X but I guess I just don't know how to do it right. My son's desktop is running mint cinnamon just fine. He has an amd video card in that one.
Forgot to mention that my work desktop has an older NVIDIA GK106 [GeForce GTX 660] and I'm using the xserver-xort-video-nouveau (open-source) driver. Driver Manager is recommending nvidia-375. I might try that. Also, I have my own laptop at home that runs mint cinnamon just fine. So out of four computer, two are freezing regularly - and they are running roughly the same versions. - We try to keep the up to date with the latest Mint and Cinnamon.
@nd4c Can you stop spamming us with your self inflicted issue, using nouveau is asking for issues IMO.
My GTX 660 runs without issue using the nvidia driver.
Nouveau was what the installation selected. I tried the ndvidia-375 and it did not work, used software rendering and could not find the second monitor. I've installed all the updates listed in the Update Manager - hopefully that should solve the issue.
@leigh123linux I've (temporarily?) switched to Mate for several days now and have not had any kind of crashes, lock ups or screen tearing. I'm still using the nouveau driver. So I'm guessing that my problem was not in actuality a self inflicted issue. Just saying...
Possible helpful note. Checking through the Xorg.logs (old and new) I noticed that X, of course, has to deal with keyboard and mouse drivers as well as video. (duh) I have a wireless Logitech K750 which is problematic even for windows. With two wireless logitech keyboards in our office we had to get usb extension cables to put the receiver closer to the kbds. I get a lot more lockups when not using the extension than when I do. Maybe that might help. I have not tested Mate without the extension. It's working why break it?
@nd4c If I use nouveau my cinnamon session normally crashes within 20 minutes, looking at the debugging it's clearly nouveau at fault. I seriously doubt Ubuntu nouveau is any better than redhat/fedora when it comes to stability.
Using nvidia my sessions last for several weeks without issue.

Mate is much less demanding as it's only 2D DE unless to use compiz or some other compositor for 3D
Unfortunately I'm trying to get Mint going, not Fedora. (been a fedora fan since 1999, currently manage a few centos headless cloud servers) Not sure why my attempt to use nvidia 375.66 went into software mode. I have two monitors, maybe? I will try some more different settings. I'm in the middle of something right now - will try these later. Thanks for the help with this.
Under Mate my Display Server is: X.Org 1.18.4 - that wold be the same under Cinnamon? So maybe that's the difference?

OK - I now have the nvidia driver running:

Man, it was a pain to get it installed - Mint will force the use of the nouveau drivers.
I initially used their Driver Manager and it would quote install unquote the nvidia drivers and it would say that they were being used by the hardware - but it was not true. inxi would clearly show the nouveau drivers were being used.
I tried disabling the nouveau driver via grub, but that didn't work either.
It wasn't until I downloaded the nvidia installer and it installed a modprobe.d file which worked. I was able to reboot and rerun the nvidia installer.
If (for some odd chance) I still have problems with Cinnamon on Mint, I will let you know.
For now I'm assuming this is resolved. Again, thanks for the help with this.
Using Cinnamon 3.0.7 with Nvidia drivers 340.96 causes random complete freeze of computer. After cinnamon freezes I can touch one key in the keyboard and the whole computer will be unresponsive. Connecting through ssh to retrieve logs is impossible and I have not noticed anything in the log files.
