 * Cinnamon version: Cinnamon 4.2.4
   - Not using ppa
 * Distribution - Mint 19.2
 * Nvidia Geforce GTX 1660 Ti on 440.26 driver
 * 64 bit
 * [xsession-errors.txt](https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/files/3833987/xsession-errors.txt)

Issue Some version of Linux Mint (I think 19.2) introduced a feature that taskbar entries in Grouped window list are always the same "width" even if their title is shorter/longer. This feature is broken for the open windows if I hit "cinnamon restart" applet. Also observed some strange thing where there are duplicated entries for same application after cinnamon restart.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open some applications, and one that has short window title 1
  2. Hit cinnamon restart, and observe the problem. Window with short title now has taskbar entry with smaller "width", not consistent with others. Also there is duplicated entry for "firefox" in this case, but I don't know why. 2

Expected behaviour Cinnamon restart should not cause old behavior to be reintroduced, for the currently opened applications.

I can reproduce the issue of the items not keeping the same width. I don't see the issue with the duplicated entries though.

Hi I get this everytime if I have firefox pinned on third slot. If chromium is there, I only see the first issue like you do.

Great, it's reproduced. but will anyone fix it? who knows, they've banned the only person working on the non-design aspects of it since June.

@Mikaka27 are you still experiencing this issue?

ghost commented 3 years ago

@icarter09 not OP, but yes. Label width error happens consistently no matter the app, and duplicated entries tends to happen with wine programs that are pinned to taskbar.
