5-15-21 - With Auto hide mode, panel keeps stretching icons when editing items or adding items to panel #9930

Problem = Cinnamon 20.1's panel ( something) stretches the icons, and I always must manually correct this by going to panel settings, selecting to Always show panel, then manually selecting center and right and on each toggling the colored icon size to another size/setting and then back to the one I want.

It doesn't matter what panel height I have set, this problem still keeps repeating.

This never happened in Cinnamon 20 or 19 unless I added items to the Panel while it was already in " Auto hide" mode

Also This problem never happens when I leave my Linux Mint Cinnamon 20.1 panel set to "Always Show"

Further more,I tried both with Kernel 5.8 varieties via Linux mint Cinnamon's own Update Manager and Kernel. 5.10.16 via the Ubuntu Mainline Kernel updater program.

Also I tested this both updating to that 5.10.16 kernel before AND after updating LM cinnamon to 20.1. The problem seems only showing in LM Cinnamon 20.1.

Cinnamon 4.8.6 Mint 20.1 64bit

I'm not able to reproduce this issue. Can you provide a screenshot of the issue and also what you have for the "Center Zone" and "Right Zone" settings in "Panel Appearance"? Thanks.

5-15-21 proof of stretched panel icons

1st. Now it only happens when I leave panel in Autohide mode 1st..then adding anything to panel such as opening Cinnamon Menu, right clicking on what I want to add and selecting " add to panel" as well as right clicking on an item and editing it in anyway.

In the attached picture example here is where I added cpupower-gui to the panel at the center portion...thus only the center has the stretched icons..crap going on and the rest of the panel is normal

The "panel icons always stretched again " upon reboot problem finally seems to be gone. Sorry I'm late on updating that.

So....the core complain here has basically gone down in severity, but the main problem of the panel stretching icons still stands when you have it in Auto Hide mode while doing anything such as adding panel items... Thus I should edit my post title then. Sorry about the delay on updating that.

....EXCEPT..for right clicking an item and removing it... That = ok :D

That ...does not mess with the panel what so ever and everything just works as normally there.

2nd part of your question " center zone and right zone settings". Just like the left zone...all zones are 32 in "colored icon size" and " Symbolic icon size'. ..which is what I prefer.

Thanks for your time either way be it a successful resolution or not in the end :)
