I added some necessary icons.

This doesn't (exactly) have to be the subject of this PR (as it is not directly caused by it), but one thing I don't like is the difference in the proportions of the nemo icon and other icons, this is noticeable, especially in the panel:

panel01

That icon (nemo's) is a bit smaller in comparison to the others and it gives a strange impression that you have a square between the circles (figuratively speaking) ⬤◼⬤⬤⬤

mjkim0727 commented 10 months ago

OK. I'll fix it.

mjkim0727 commented 10 months ago

system-file-manager icon already exist. system-file-manager

Is it good?

anaximeno commented 10 months ago

Is it good?

Yeah, it's a good option. I believe it would be nice if we could have this changing according to the different color variants like the ones in the src/places folder. I've been thinking if it would be necessary to add it to this src and render it with the other variants or to create a new file for this and updating the rendering algorithm. What do you think about this? I am willing to contribute with the necessary changes to the algorithms if it seems like a positive change.

I have an impression that the Firefox icon is a bit smaller than the others in this image:

logviewer This icon is missing

Initu-Castilhos commented 10 months ago

Tenho a impressão de que o ícone do Firefox é um pouco menor do que os outros nesta imagem:

With the clear theme you will see it is ok.

A prototype for what I proposed above:

system-file-manager-prototype

Update: Implemented in https://github.com/linuxmint/mint-y-icons/pull/387

clefebvre commented 8 months ago

Pretty cool initiative.

I like the style also. I'll a roadmap item for this in preparation for Mint 22.

I'll get the team to look at it. If we adopt it we'll need to decide if this replaces Mint-Y or if it's a new theme.

https://github.com/linuxmint/mint-y-icons/issues/316 Can you add a Kotlin icon? And can someone add a Kotlin icon to the main theme of the applications, it's been more than a year. The question arises, why didn’t I add it myself? Because I only know how to write comments 😋.

You can use inkscape tool.

I added text-x-kotlin icons.

@mjkim0727 I've been wondering if it would be better to revert this commit https://github.com/linuxmint/mint-y-icons/pull/360/commits/ac98076f41a218aa7a758d35629479f67fac3f68 because it might conflict with #387

anaximeno commented 6 months ago

Nevermind, I've been testing and I believe the places images take precedence over the apps so they possibly will not conflict.

clefebvre commented 3 months ago

@mjkim0727 @anaximeno @Initu-Castilhos @vadimk1337 @incycledream don't hesitate to join https://matrix.to/#/#linuxmint-artists:matrix.org. We're looking at artwork changes for Mint 22, it'd be good to have a chat about it.

clefebvre commented 3 months ago

I really like what you did with your redesign. I'm not ready to swap though. I'd like people to compare for a long time and talk about pros and cons and differences in shapes, styles and color palettes. Then we can decide if we pursue it, fully or partially, and whether to do so in a new icon theme or to adapt the Mint-Y one.

I put your redesign (for green and sand) here in this archive for people to be able to test/compare easily. the content goes in ~/.local/share/icons/
