@ghazzor could you provide screen of your monitor through your phone or something like this, is it on boot or it happen in the login, if it happen when you login, are you using x11 or wayland?

Many questions just to get more informations about your issue

clefebvre commented 1 month ago

Just in case it's related. Note that redshift is no longer shipped in Mint 22.

clefebvre commented 1 month ago

Another thing to try is to go in Color settings and remove/switch profiles.

I have not tested on bare metal how colours are seen Linux Mint 22. For reasons unknown to me, Mint is painfully unusable without a blue light filter (all my screens). I have read that an option is planned to be integrated into Cinnamon. For me it would be essential, what options do we have at Mint 22 at release?

clefebvre commented 1 month ago

You can install redshift-gtk but you'll need to edit its config file to put your own coordinates in it. Its geoip mechanism is no longer working.

i doubt a phone's camera would show the yellow tint

its always too yellow (more like a tint of deep yellow), even at login (using x11, did not test wayland) and i never used redshift i think its the issues with the drivers or the calibration as 21.3 does not suffer from it

the reason i think its something with the calibration because on fresh install of amd drivers on windows 10 has the same yellow tint but i fixed it by changing "brightness" settings in amd gpu control panel , i increased it and the tint was gone

windows 11 has the same issue if i decrease the "brightness" from the amd gpu control panel

i have no idea how to tweak the "brightness" in linux though

Ikytsu commented 1 month ago

@ghazzor you can change the brightness on cinnamon in the bottom bar with this: image (took the screen from another issue, because i don't have this applet (i don't have battery))

well there is a reason i am quoting the "brightness" its specifically in the ctrl pannel image

this is what i need to do to remove the yellow tint on w11/w10

this issue might be reproducible on newer amd machines by dragging the slider to the right on windows, no idea how will you edit these on linux though

@ghazzor maybe you could tweak with the color setting on cinnamon when logging in

I had a yellow screen on x11 on ubuntu, when i used nouveau driver, so i tweaked with color settings, maybe your issue isn't the same but the fix is the same so you could try this. The proprietary driver however fixed the issue.

i got an amd igpu for display so nvdia drivers dont matter(i tried both already) well i tried changing drivers to official amd but they broke the install so ig i will wait for stable drivers on ubuntu 24.04, they might fix the yellow tint.

Ikytsu commented 1 month ago

@ghazzor that wasn't what i meant, i gave you the fix, we don't have the same issue, but maybe the same fix, try to change the color setting, tweak it to get an acceptable display. (it's not really a fix, btw, we are only hiding the poop under the carpet :D)

Btw another thing we should try is to manually install redshift and configure it, like clem said it, redshift was probably the thing who saved you from the yellow tint on 21.3, here's how to do this:

sudo apt install redshift redshift-gtk
