sudo sed -i -e 's/linuxmint-logo-badge-symbolic/mintinstall-system-symbolic/g' /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintinstall/mintinstall.py
solved the problem, using system category icon
Did you remove the mint-artwork
package?
Which desktop are you using? Fix with:
apt install mint-meta-cinnamon # (or mint-meta-mate or mint-meta-xfce)
mint cinnamon 22, fresh install, no removed mint-meta-cinnamon package
remove and reinstall, linuxmint-logo-badge-symbolic.svg is here now.
thank you for support
I also just experienced this on a fresh install; adding software manager to the desktop resulted in an icon appearing with no icon / image (well, a generic icon), and the name mintinstall.desktop or something like that.
I tried running apt install mint-meta-cinnamon, and got the message that it was already installed and up to date.
Afterwards, I tried removing the icon from my desktop and tried adding to my desktop again, and it seemed to have worked. In between the first time I tried adding it to my desktop, and the 2nd time, I believe I may have run updates, so it's possible that this issue only affected the version of software manager that was included ootb from the fresh install, not sure.
in description of deb application , generic icon is displayed, because linuxmint-logo-badge-symbolic icon not exist in Mint 22
