Not sure what I did first on the laptop, but further tests shows that it to is affected by this, so glib is properly the issue. Further searches suggest that the issue is fixed in glib 2.58, but not backported to the version used in Mint's current Ubuntu base.
The Problem Patch 1 and Patch 2
Unless someone at Mint could add these patches to a Mint specified version of glib, maybe Nemo could get some kind of manual way to deselect drives from being displayed?

Just been encountering the same problem. Creates for me a real clutter in the left side pane each time I go to save a file from an app. The answer is a switch in the file manager (in my case Nemo, presumably Nautilus behaves the same) to turn off this behaviour. Same with network shares.
Hi. So this is most likely not the right place for this, maybe Mint in general is the wrong place, but not sure where else to put it. I choose here because of two things. 1: This issue affects me on Mint and 2: It affects me in Nemo.
I have two computers, laptop and desktop, both running latest Mint with Cinnamon. The laptop is a little behind on updates by a few weeks, and this issue does not affect it because of it. So within the last few weeks, some package was pushed that introduced this, but I cannot figure out which one.
I have a lot of folders on an additional drive that is mounted to other folders in /home using the bind option. The drive itself is mounted in /mnt. These mount points is now showing up in Nemo's right side, all using the label of that drive. I found some older issues that was similar, like this one, where it seamed to be an issue with glib. However my desktop and laptop are both running the exact same version of glib. They are however running different versions og Nemo, 4.2.4 and 4.2.3. I tried adding
x-gvfs-hide
to the mount options, but this did not help either.
