Issue

When create desktop icons with big text in the the labels and move files and folders with big text in the the labels and place them all side by side on the desktop the labels touch each other and the best configuration to not touch leaves an unpleasant space on the left side of the screen, the icons are not properly close to the edge of the screen when the user configure a good space to the labels do not touch each other.

Steps to reproduce

Create desktop icons with big text in the the labels and move files and folders with big text in the the labels and place them all side by side on the desktop. Adjusting the icons so that the labels do not touch each other, leaves an unpleasant space on the left side of the screen, the icons are not properly close to the edge of the screen.

Expected behaviour

Create desktop icons with big text in the the labels and move files and folders with big text in the the labels and place them all side by side on the desktop adjusting the icons to not touch each other shortening the text with three dots, and leaves an properly space on the left side of the screen.

Other information

GentIemen,

I would like to request priority to solve this problem, as it affects new users and causes a bad impression on the system in general. It would be interesting to allow the user to configure the size and when the text should break a line.

Best regards,

Have you tried spreading your desktop icons further apart? Perhaps those user-friendly filenames could be made even more friendly?

Of course. Does not work fine. Also there are other minor bugs in the positioning newof the new icons or files. The developers need to substantially decrease the size of the text of the icons as I have showed in the first screenshot.

The problem seems to be compounded by the different aspect ratios of different icons. Different icons are going to have differing amounts of space for text - which is going to make the whole layout problem very difficult. As for smaller text - the lower case text is just comfortably readable - so there is no way it could be reduced.

The problem is not only with uppercase text and contrary to what you said there are several ways to reduce the text.

But it is required that the text be easily readable on a variety of backgrounds. This does set a limit on the choice of font.

Yet another useful contribution.
