[Feature Request] Using Nemo as a file picker. #3068

For a while in Gnome-land people have discussed having Nautilus doubling as a file picker for apps that support the file picker portal which would allow users to have a more complete file picker, and specially be able to select files in icon view.

It would be really nice if Nemo also doubled as a file picker, since we would have access to three viewing modes and the more traditional UX Cinnamon is known for.

Nautilus is just getting this feature https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/3401. However in Nautilus they did the GTK4 migration first which isn't done in the Nemo codebase.

Nautilus having that feature was just presented in This week in GNOME: https://thisweek.gnome.org/posts/2024/07/twig-156/332ecd4b1be646162c62276bbe480b971c819e0d1811837894101303296.mp4 It works very nicely (though not a big fan of GNOME's design)

On Mint's front it may take some time, especially if GTK4 is needed: https://github.com/linuxmint/mint22-beta/issues/115 https://github.com/orgs/linuxmint/discussions/513 Sadly, I didn't get another reply in the discussion and it was closed.
