zoom in is limited too much #166

Issue Zoom in is limited too much.

Maybe the current limits for zooming are suitable for documents in DINA4 or Letter format, but for big documents like circuit diagrams or CAD plans, I can not zoom in enough to see something!

@voxspox have you tried to increment the page cache size? You could use dconf for that: See key org.x.reader.page-cache-size... set it to 500 or 1000 and try again.

voxspox commented 6 years ago

ok, increasing the cache size allows higher zoom level! Can you say somehow a factor? For example 500% zoom needs 100 MB cache.

Thank you! Indeed, It actually does work. I had the same issue with a large circuit diagram and the zoom level was quite limited. Increasing the page-cache-size from 50 to 200 was quite sufficient for me: gsettings set org.x.reader page-cache-size 200 Maybe a a little bit greater default page-cache-size value would be better? Previously I have used evince and AR and they both allow me to zoom in to this level.

Just want to add my support for this request. It is fortunate that there is a work around, this could otherwise be a deal breaker for viewing construction drawings.

Adding the ability to change this setting in the preferences dialog (ideally along with a comment that maximum zoom level depends on it) would be very helpful for many professionals working with large format drawings.

I would also love to see more zoom levels in Xreader – my city’s transit map (ZTM Poznań, Poland) is available only in PDF version, and the maximum zoom isn’t enough – it only becomes readable at 600% (Okular).

I just applied the gsettings set org.x.reader page-cache-size 200 and it works (9 zoom-in levels, instead of 7), but still it would be great to get this out of the box.

Thanks!
