Distribution:
Release Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya 64-bit
Kernel Linux 4.4.0-96-generic x86_64
MATE 1.18.0

Xviewer version: 1.4.3

Hardware :> Available memory: 15GB
Processor:> Intel® Xeon(R) CPU E31240 @ 3.30GHz

Issue When viewing a directory with thousands of JPEG images, files are about 1MB each, memory usage continues to accumulate and not released after each image view. Images are stored on a NAS, drive is NFS mounted.

Steps to reproduce Step through images using keyboard or mouse navigation.

Expected behaviour Unexpected behavior - System UI slowed down and froze running applications. After a while opening System Monitor, kswapd0 runs at 90% cpu - when closing Xviewer, system recovers and memory is released.

I confirm the memory leak on Mint Cinnamon 19.3 x64. This leak also present when viewing local files.
