I was curious to see if this problem would only be reproducible with kexec or if the kernel would fail \ with the nosmp
parameter independently of how it was invoked. . I was not able to reproduce it on a KVM guest with Grub.

@leitao not overly surprising it doesn't reproduce as a guest. There is a good chance this is powernv platform specific. Normally we get confused about where a CPU is, either in skiboot or linux or something low level like that.
