completed a migration from unifi-controller to unifi-network-application using an existing mongo db with no issues. 3 sites, 18 total devices, and 1 year of history all showed up in the new container after restore.

Hey! I'm glad it's working for you. Can I get an example docker compose with a mongodb? I don't have experience using external databases in docker.
