Time for a fork? #13

There are pending issues and pull requests, but the repository owner appears inactive. This would indicate it is time for a fork of the project.

There's certainly been no activity on GitHut from the linuxstb user since 2015. In the readme, it seems to be dave@dchapman.com behind this, but both dchapman.com, linuxstb.org, and the domain registrant email address dchapman.comt@snailgate.co.uk seem to be offline.

Based on the information at https://tvheadend.org/projects/tvheadend/wiki/Dave I have found the user 'linuxstb' in the #hts channel on FreeNode. Will message him about this issue

Hi!

Would you be amenable to adding others, such as @russel or myself, to the collaborators list for the relevant repos? Or would you rather they be forked?

I'm not sure if you intended the @linuxstb username to be a project name, or your personal account name, if you know what I mean :-)

Thanks @linuxstb for that. It is always best to do these things openly and with everyone's knowledge and consent. I am in the middle of volunteering to maintain DVBTools as a repository part of the OpenDigitalRadio group – I am going to be working on DABlin. Once they agree and set up an appropriate team, I think the best bet would be to pass ownership of this (and any related) repository from @linuxstb to OpenDigitalRadio rather than fork it.

Given I am also working on Me TV, and the dvbsrc plugin in GStreamer, I wonder if DVBTools is in a similar boat, though passed on to someone other than OpenDigitalRadio.

The ODR folk are happy to take management control of dabtools, and I am happy to maintain it. We just need to get an ODR owner to accept the repository from @linuxstb, create a team to own the repository, add me and @kylegordon (and whoever wants to be a committer/maintainer) to that team, and we can progress.

Accepted. Given this is a fork rather than a move, I have asked the people with outstanding pull requests to submit here. For me the CMake build is the most important (for CLion working) even though I much prefer Meson as a build system.

The fork has happened, https://github.com/Opendigitalradio/dabtools has become the working repository. Just need to get people to put outstanding issues and pull requests from here to there.

Awesome! Thank for the invite and fork. I'm merely an enthusiastic user, but can help with testing, packaging, etc. Moving house at the moment, so I'll be around to help shortly
