Thanks for reporting this. I know that there are some things not working correctly with the slicer and SSAS MD, but this one is new. I will look into this.
The visual now supports Bookmarks and I am hoping that it also will support the default member. Only I do not have an MD cube running to test it.
@cwebbbi: Can you test it if this is still an issue?
I've just tested it and it doesn't seem to be working, sorry. I have a hierarchy with a default member which, when I use it in a regular Power BI slicer, has the default member automatically selected; the same thing does not happen with the Hierarchy Slicer. I tested it on the version from the Office Store - is that the right one to use?
Problem is that in between my question and your test the old version was rolled back to production, so we have to wait ~2 weeks before the correct version is available to test (Custom Visuals are auto-updated independent of the store version). I will let you know when to test again.
OK, thanks!

My customer is using the Hierarchy Slicer visual on an SSAS MD cube, but they have found that when they set a default member on the underlying hierarchy this does not change the default selection on the slicer. Setting the default member on a hierarchy does affect the default selection on the built-in Power BI slicer. Could you update Hierarchy Slicer to do this please?
Thanks,
Chris
