Whalin compatibile transcoder #7

There've been many requests for transcoders compatible with other clients.
 One compatible with the Whalin client would be quite desirable.

I did a bunch of overhaul on the transcoders today.  In addition to increasing 
test
coverage, I added a transcoder that I believe is compatible with Whalin's 
(although I
didn't do any direct interop tests).

If anyone finds anything that is incompatible after
955dea2b0365af333e771c2b1b04c109d3c654c5 -- please let me know.
