MAINTAINER WANTED #304

Open jorinvo opened 4 years ago

jorinvo commented 4 years ago

Litewrite hasn't been maintained for a couple of years now so if anyone still interested in using it and likes to step up and take over maintaining/improving/rewriting it, please reach out here :)

michielbdejong commented 4 years ago

Thanks for your consistent work over the past years, Jorin! I'll try to free up some spare time soon and have a look at the open issues.

jorinvo commented 4 years ago

Thanks @michielbdejong! That is great to hear šŸ˜Š

NotMoni commented 4 years ago

Same here, I will try to squeeze some time to work on litewrite. šŸ¦„

prashantsengar commented 3 years ago

Thanks @jorinvo and @jancborchardt for working on this. I had been looking out for this since long. I would love to start working on it!

jorinvo commented 3 years ago

Hi @prashantsengar thanks, that sounds great! Maybe you can start by looking at issues, sending PRs and so on. Then the small but existing community can try to help out where needed :)

jimmywarting commented 2 years ago

I'd be willing to take up maintainership for this project. My company is looking to use this project, I'm a core team member of the popular node-fetch package since the very first besinning and takes care of a number of other popular open source project. I know a thing or two about open source and making sure it's harmful and well documented and safe

That being said, I have had a fascination of getting things modernized. My motivations are not to prioritize the needs of my company over the needs of the community. Looking through the issues, I think that I could help with answering the questions people have or looking into (and potentially fixing) the problems that are presented.

If it's alright with you then I would like to get full maintainership of npm package and that the github is transfered to my account along with all the issues/PR that comes with it

Just let me know šŸ‘

michielbdejong commented 2 years ago

@jorinvo Sorry I haven't found any time since I said two years ago that I said I would try!

@jimmywarting Thanks so much for volunteering, the world needs more people like you! But if I understand correctly you mean you would like to get sole maintainership, and people who currently have access to the repo to be removed? Would it also be an option if we just add you to the list of people who have access without removing the others?

ghost commented 1 year ago

Hi everyone.

I like this project, so... please don't delete this project. If possible send this project to abandonware, someone can help maintain it in case you can't maintain this project.

rdjenkins commented 1 year ago

Me too. I think it's great. I've added a pull request of the 'save as file' issue request. Also the Google Drive link I've updated as the litewrite.net one had expired. Here's my latest branch.

ghost commented 1 year ago

Hi all. Add-me as a contributor, I want to be the official contributor of litewrite.

rdjenkins commented 1 year ago

I think the original maintainers have 'gone away'. I'll try and reach them. (Don't know what happens if we can't).

I've messaged @jorinvo in several ways.

ghost commented 1 year ago

Hi rdjenkins, thank you for feedback.

jorinvo commented 1 year ago

Hey there, I don't mind giving new maintainers access. Who is interested? @codehangen @rdjenkins are you both interested?

The domain is still with @jancborchardt as far as I know.

So maybe someone of the existing maintainers can also give their thumbs up, then I would just add you 2 if you like.

rdjenkins commented 1 year ago

Cool. I do find it a useful tool for random notes - especially as it synchronises well through remoteStorage. They are about to release a new version 2 (already in beta) so ensuring litewrite works with that would be good.

jancborchardt commented 1 year ago

I would agree it would be nice to have more maintainers. But I think we have to have some basic requirement, and that being at least 1 pull request having been made (ideally more).

Also, the project should stay in this organization and not move to any other org or even personal account, as open source is always a team effort.

By that logic, good candidates for co-maintainers are:

Already members of the organization are @michielbdejong, @nilclass and @xMartin (although all private), and I would also add existing remoteStorage folks @raucao and @galfert

Domain-wise, Iā€™m happy to continue owning and paying for it for now, we can also transfer it at some point though.

What do you think? :)

raucao commented 1 year ago

What do you think? :)

Agree with all of of the above, except for being added as a maintainer. :)

brianpeiris commented 1 year ago

Hello. I might not have the time to be the primary maintainer, but I should be able to jump in for triaging, code reviews, and the occasional bug/feature.

ghost commented 1 year ago

Hi everyone.

Who is interested? codehangen, rdjenkins are you both interested?

Yes! But... I might not have the time to be the primary maintainer, but I should be able to jump in for triaging, code reviews, and the occasional bug/feature too. my case is similiar with case of... brianpeiris.

rdjenkins commented 1 year ago

Great to hear there is life in the project and active maintainers! Also agree that knowing the code first by doing a pull request to fix an issue is a good way to identify other members of the team.

Great that you are prepared to continue your support and hosting @jancborchardt

With regard the Pull Request #308 ... it's been waiting for some action from you guys (merge it in or ask for it to be redone sort of thing). :-)

technoknol commented 1 year ago

thanks @jancborchardt for mention. I'd like to get some time and fix some of the issues.
