Please make sure that 'Store Past Broadcasts' is enabled on your channel so that we can review examples of your coding stream. Also ensure that your vods are not sub only.

What is the URL for your Twitch channel? https://twitch.tv/directiveathena

Are you a Twitch affiliate or partner? (Your application will be automatically rejected if the answer is no) I'm a Twitch affiliate, for almost a year now

What languages / frameworks / tools do you program in while streaming on Twitch? I mainly use in Python, but am actually planning a feature for my Saturday streams where every week I try and learn the basics of any 'useful' language. About a year ago I gave myself a goal to use as little 3rd party libraries, where possible and sane. Systems like Database connectors, and async libs for those, is an example where I use 3rd party libraries. Given I see programming streams as a sort of collaborative process with my viewers (as I try to explain everything I write and work on)

Currently I have a couple minor projects, making my own twitch bot library/a replacement for colorama (which I completed):... , and a major project I'll describe in the next sections

Why do you write code on stream? The goal when I set out to stream, a little more than a year ago, was creating a piece of software so I could write the immense amount of world building that I have stuck in my head down. The worldbuilding is of a science fiction story I'm hopeful I can develop into a real project . Before I started working with Python, I had a collection of strung together Microsoft Access Files. It worked for a while, but became unmanageable to maintain, as with every upgrade to the system I tried to do, the whole system broke entirely. So a little more than a year ago I started learning Python as my first language I could do something with, other than introduce more bugs into a Microsoft owned software. I also streamed most of this process of learning, and that gave me so much validation from the community. Now that I've grown a lot in the process of working with Python, I'm finally coming back to creating the software I wanted to create from the beginning. At first it'll mostly be a backend API, with some minor front end interface so that I can at least work with it in a cohesive manner. I basically stream almost everything that I create, to have someone to talk about programming and bounce ideas of. I really love helping some people out if they ask me a question. Hopefully I'll also be able to get into game-dev, as I really want to create games with the story I'm developing, but currently that isn't my top priority, as with I'm dealing with a lot of health issues that make it so I hardly am able to be active half of a month at a time (I'm more than willing to explain this further, but rather in private).

PS: If you go looking at my git account, I've stored most of my projects in separate organizations https://github.com/Athena-Chaos-Driven-Code -> Org where I store all kinds of libraries I create. https://github.com/DirectiveAthena-Applications -> Actual applications I'm developing that are in some way related to the science fiction project, or the making of it.

What is your favorite moment from coding on stream? Share a clip if one is available I'm terrible at creating clips... after a long stream I'm usually so tired that I forget to go through the stream afterwards, and during the stream I'm focusing hard on the chat and the code, so I simply forget about it. One of my favorite moments is when I people react to me saying that I'm trying to have as little 3rd party dependencies as possible. Meaning I try to develop a lot of libraries myself, instead of always relying on other people's code, with some exceptions like databases, gui libraries, and other exceptions. I always admit that this approach isn't the best course to take, but over the past six months that I've applied the "rule", it allowed me to learn things in a way that I really benefitted from, like building my own Twitch Bot Lib, and working with the helix API. Currently I'm coming back a little from that whole experience, as I want to start developing projects that actually lead somewhere, without having to spends weeks in dev hell because I wanted to learn how to make a .env parser (although I did learn how parsers generally work now).

What do you want to accomplish with the Live Coders? From being active as a programmer streamer for a year now on Twitch, has made me realize how lonely it can be. Sure, having viewers and talking to them is super awesome, but it feels different when I've sometimes played a game with some other types of streamers I know. I'm always willing to help wherever/whoever I can, so if anyone is thinking of making their own library for X from the ground up, I'm always willing to help.

What do you want the Live Coders team to help you with? I think my content on twitch is not perfect, as there is always room for improvement, but I've kind of have an idea of what I want to do on there, and how I want to get there. Whilst on other platforms, I struggle to even come up with an idea, some help with this would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions about this process, please email: info@livecoders.dev

hey there, are you still actively streaming? We'll check back with your application

hello, unfortunately I've been dealing with a lot health issues since the beginning of 2023, and haven't been able to be in any shape to be consistent with my content. I've only been able to stream a hand full of times per month, and as of writing the last one has been over two week ago. This is also why my git activity has been so sparsely, given I've had multiple health issues over the past year in general.

When I'm able to get back to streaming, I plan on doing it (near) daily again. I fully understand that this has effects on my application, but please let me know when you have the time.
