Closed Joysticklabs closed 10 months ago

Joysticklabs commented 1 year ago

Please describe your project. Start with the need or problem you are trying to solve with this project. Describe why your solution is going to adequately solve this problem.

Freetyl is a decentralized gaming and social network platform for gamers, content creators to play web3 games and communicate with one another. The Freetyl Dapp consist of three main part, which are

  1. The gaming platform and marketplace
  2. Social Media
  3. Live streaming Gamers can live stream their games at a go and communicate with friends too. The Freetyl Dapp makes web3 gaming easy and fun.

Describe the problem you are solving In web2 gaming ecosystem, gamers use third party apps like OBS to live stream their gameplays and contents on twitch and other streaming platform. With Freetyl, gamers can livestream their gameplays in-game without the use of any third party application (We are building an SDK/plugin that will enable gamers to livestream their gameplays while playing without having to log off or use third party application). Game Livestream Also, making use of Livepeer RTMP transmission to deliver livestream data

Please describe in more detail why this proposal is valuable for the Livepeer ecosystem

Livepeer is what the web3 gaming ecosystem needs because it is designed to make streaming more efficient and reliable while reducing cost. Freetyl will use Livepeer RTMP to transmit in-game livestream data directly from the game. This will make game streaming easier and fun. Also, streams will be stored using Livepeer VOD. Streams stored in the Livepeer VOD can be viewed anytime, anywhere because its on the blokchain.

Please describe in details what your final deliverable for this project will be.

  1. In-game streaming application
  2. In-game streaming SDK which will be used by game developers
  3. Testing of the plugin/SDK
  4. Use of Livepeer RTMP to transmit livestream data
  5. Use of Livepeer VOD to store streams

Please break up your development work into a clear set of milestones

The grant request is to complete a live streaming service on freetyl Dapp which include 1) In-game streaming plugin 2) Using Livepeer RTMP to transmit stream data and 3) Store streams using the livepeer VOD.

This will be done by the Joysticklabs devs team especially the blockchain developer and Backend Engineer. We will require external support (need to hire a developer with knowledge of broadcasting) The breakdown of the development work are Frontend Development - This includes UI designs and interpretation of the UI designs for the in-game plugin, general streaming service on the freetyl Dapp Backend Development - building the backend infrastructure, use and deployment of livepeer APIs needed etc Testing of the in-game streaming application using a ready to lay game

The timeframe for completion of this deliverable is 1-2 months and the total money needed is $10,000

Sum up the total requested budget across all milestones, and include that figure here. Also, please include a budget breakdown to specify how you are planning to spend these funds.

Frontend Development - $1,500 Hiring of external developer - $3,000 Backend development, which include building backend infrastructure, integration of livepeer VOD, Livepeer RTMP etc - $4,000 Testing the in-game streaming application sing ready to play game - $1,500

Specify your team's long-term plans to maintain this software and upgrade it over time

Freetyl is a product (Dapp) that is been built to be used by everyday people, gamers and content creator. As a product which is built for personal and commercial purpose, there will be updates of versions of the Dapp. The Joysticklabs (parent company) will closely with the Livepeer team to update and use the latest upgrades of API, SDK, RTMP for the purpose of this freetyl Dapp.

Please describe (in words) your team's relevant experience, and why you think you are the right team to build this project. You can cite your team's prior experience in similar domains, doing similar dev work, individual team members' backgrounds, etc.

The Joysticklabs team is made of experienced people in the area of blockchain, gaming and software development. The Founder (Henry Ezeh) is a gamer and a blockchain enthusiast with 7years experience in the blockchain space.

The Team's blockchain developer (Bartholomew) is well experienced and has worked on different video streaming products using livepeer. https://github.com/scapula07

Also, Mr. Charles Duruaku, who is the team's fullstack developer has 5 years experience in building enterprise products ranging from social media, finance etc https://github.com/mrkendrick

How did you learn about the Livepeer Grants Program?

One of the Team's developer (Bartholomew) has participated in one of Livepeer Hackathon

Was this project started at a hackathon or another web3 event? Which one?

Hey @Joysticklabs team! Based on our conversation a couple weeks ago, I wanted to define the milestones here for transparency.

Milestone 1 Goal: Build proof-of-concept for livestreaming web3 game in browser Deliverable: Demo website running a web3 game that can be livestreamed

Milestone 2 Goal: Scaling in-browser livestreaming Deliverable: 10 concurrent livestreams for web3 game on demo website

Success Metric: 100+ concurrent livestreamers for web3 game

Does this look right? Let me know if I missed some details or got something wrong!

Joysticklabs commented 1 year ago

Hello @hansy, everything is right and perfect as we discussed.

hansy commented 1 year ago
