Wifi hang but not in LAN hang... #1095

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Just use it long enough, then wifi will hang..
2. my pc device on wifi cannot access anything[including router]. my pc on lan
still can access the internet[including router]at the same time..
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
page not loading

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
rtn56u win7, winxp ,iphone

Please describe the problem as detailed as it's possible.
If you have connection problem, then syslog file is required. (please do
attach it as a file)
Note that if there will be a poor problem description the issue status will
be changed to 'Invalid'!

I think there is something wrong with the wifi driver in rtn56u causing the
wifi to hang easily. NOTE: the router is not hang, just user on wifi cannot
load anything, user on LAN can load anything perfectly at the same time. When
wifi hang, a reboot of router is require, or you need to be patient to let the
wifi reload again..

What exactly happens when it "hangs"?

Do you remain connected? Are you unable to obtain IP? Is the wless network
still visible from other devices?

If you've set the region code for either 2.4 or 5GHz to debug or a improper
region you might loose connectivity completely on certain devices, depending on
driver etc. You might also wanna look into what freq. your neighbors use, and
try to find a combination of 2.4/5 with minimal SNR.

Wireless network is visible, but it is unable to connect when it hang..
Sometimes, online games like CS1.6 ping spike, and cl_entitypacket error..
Funny thing is, the LAN side of router will not hang when wifi side is hang..
If using LAN port for internet, it work perfectly but not for the wifi side..
This lead me suspecting there are some issues with the wifi drivers..

I'm thinking interference.

Try setting another channel, or rename say the 5GHz radio to "5GHz" so you can
differentiate the two. I've had some stability issues w. the 5GHz-band myself,
but nothing a little tweaking couldn't resolve.

Okay, Change 5ghz channel to different name by adding 5GHZ in the SSID.
before that, the name is same as the 2.4GHZ channel..

Its pretty much up to your driver/software if it prefers 2.4 over 5. I find it
easier to just have a unique name for each band.

Tested with different name for 5GHZ.. But the WiFi still hang, causes my Online
game to disconnect. [The LAN side is working fine]
Just rebooted the router again and the wifi works fine again.
No such issue with official firmware but not the padavan version.
So, how to solve it? Drivers Problem or setting problem?
NOTE: my settings for wireless is default settings except for SSID name and
Encryption which uses WPA2 which 16key passcode.

Just want to note that this is the same issue in 333, just that the symptoms
are reported differently...
