I am facing the same issue and recurs every 30 min to 1 hr. Even LAN
connectivity to the router is lost. Do we need to set primary and secondary DNS
to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 on both WAN and LAN? Is it confirmed that dnsmasq broken?

Yep.. I agree.. same issue here as well.. connectivity is lost all around..
even to the router from LAN. I can connect wirelessly though...
It comes back to normal after 2/3 power cycles.. soft reboot does not help.

I found out the cause of the connection is broken.
1. Connect ssh
2. Type 'dnsmasq'
3. Connection is recovered.
I think dnsmasq process is killed for any reason...
any idea?

I suppose one could write a script that launches/relaunches /usr/sbin/dnsmasq
after a set interval...
Preferably one should take a look at the log-files to see whats really going on.

I have enabled DHCPv4 verbose and use my synology nas as syslog server but
nothing help.
Daemon just silently terminated.
Thus I roll back to .69 base version(with previous version dnsmasq)

Okay. I'll try to build a recent firmware (Mar 12)
then report the issue that is relate to dnsmasq terminating within several days.

After I applied a firmware I built,
I found a interesting log message.
See this.
Mar 16 20:31:53 watchdog: dnsmasq is gone, start again!
Connection is good by restarting dnsmasq succesfully although dnsmasq was
suddenly terminated.
It is a temporary fix, but reliable.

Maybe the fix will be applied to the next update.
And this is my unofficial build of the fix has been applied.

Thanks.. the size of the firmware is smaller than the full build. Does it
contain the full build along with the fix? Just curious as I do not intend to
lose other functionalities..

I think that my build contains almost of functionalities compare to official
firmware's.
What features do you want?

I primarily download torrents using transmission. I have a 1 TB external HDD
formatted to NTFS attached to the N65U router. I also use a USB MFP over
network and have 3 desktops, 3 laptops and 5 Mobile devices connected to the
router wirelessly 24x7..
I can't think of any specific purpose except for torrent downloads but my
router is ON 24x7 with all the devices always connected to it.
By the way, will there be an update for transmission software as well?

Transmission, NTFS and MFP works very well.
In order to update the Transmission it's easier to wait for the Padavan's
offical firmware.

OK. Thanks. I will flash the unofficial for now and then wait for the next
official one.
For some reason I get extremely low speeds on transmission compared to the ASUS
firmware. Not sure if there are instructions available for optimal settings to
get the best download speeds. This router is new for me and I'm new to all
this.. kind of a NOOB.. so sorry abou the tons of questions I ask..
I can think of an additional feature they can add to the next build is to limit
the CPU frequency somehow from always running at 100%.. may be an undervolt
option like in smartphones.. not sure if that's possible though..

It would be better to change the file system from NTFS to EXT4.
NTFS is much too slow to use the Transmission under linux based router.

I use Windows 8.1 in all the PCs at home.. will I still be able to access the
transmission folder and copy the completed downloads on to my PC? I was under
the impression that EXT4 file system is not accessible from Windows based PCs.

Using the Samba server or FTP server included in FW, you can transfer files to
a Windows PC.
