WAN port link - force to 100 Mbs Full Duplex #1178

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set WAN "Speed and Duplex" at 100 Mbps Full Duplex
2. After this, WAN link speed is synchronized at 100 Mbps Half Duplex and
downloading speed is 18-20 Mbps
3. If i connect directly on PC with Ethernet port link speed set at 100 Mbps
Full Duplex the download speed is at 90-98 Mbps bidirectional.
The internet provider is RCS-RDS Romania.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- expected output : Ethernet Link State: 100 Mbps, Full Duplex and the download
speed to be greater than 50 Mbps not 20 Mbps
- result output : Ethernet Link State: 100 Mbps, Half Duplex with downloading
speed at 18-20 Mbps
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The firmware version used is 3.0.3.7-079 on ASUS RT-N65

How i could make work the forcing link speed to 100 Mbps, Full Duplex?
Thank you in advance

_should_ be possible by using the rtl8367 command from a ssh shell.

Hmmm. I actually don't see that option. Sorry.

However, if you're getting better speeds running HD rather than FD, you might
want to check your cables/RJ45 jack.

Crosstalk (or that a circuit pair is short circuited) will often lead to
improvement in speed when running HD over FD.

is strange because with direct connection on PC the speed is maximum, 92 Mbps
down and 94 Mbps up.

Try to disable the "Green Ethernet" at page
http://my.router/Advanced_Switch_Content.asp.
Also you must check the cable. That do you have as WAN interface status at page
http://my.router/Main_EStatusW_Content.asp?

I have "100 Mbps, Full Duplex" as result with "RX/TX, Auto" settings and I can
dowload the files from Internet with speed about 11 MBytes/sec.

I don't confirm your issue.

With Othe rrouter if i select 100 MB FullDUplex for WAN all is ok, download
speed is 11MByes/sec. The cable was replaced with Cat 7. It is a issue
because i select 100 Mbs Full Duplex and after save the settings, work at
100 Mbps Half Duplex. I solved this with a "server" PC with 2 ethernet
port, in bridge mode, both with 100 Mbps Full Duplex selected and all works
fine.
