What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Setup printer connection with
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/RT-N56U/Printer_RT_N56U_1033.zip i
am using HP Laserjet 1018
2. Try printing(works)
3. Turn off the power on the printer / reboot the router
4. Try printing (fail)
5. Running the setup again solves the issue.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect router to remember this device as previously setup.

Now it seems as the device is identified as a new one:

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Version: 3.0.3.8-081 on RT-N56U
Client computers use Windows 7

I am pretty sure this worked in two major versions back. I will have to test.

Thanks for your reply Doctor!

I first started out with that guide but could never follow those instructions
(I didnt even manage to install Entware)

So using the ausus tool is not a viable option and will never be?
If not I will try the guide again. Thanks!

Yes, you may use the ASUS utility for USB-printer (or other supported device)
usage.
