Can't Disable Manual DHCP #1259

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Duplicate of Issue 1257. Apologies if already taken note of, but I added a
video after case was closed. Was uncertain if closed cases were monitored.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Router IP Administration.
2. Go to Advanced Settings > LAN >> DHCP Server
3. Try to Add, Delete, or Turn OFF "Enable Manual Assignment" and hit APPLY

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Should be able to delete selected interfaces, or disable manual static IP
assignment. After hitting APPLY, no changes are made.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
3.0.3.8-081, N65U on Mac and PC

Please describe the problem as detailed as it's possible.
If you have connection problem, then syslog file is required. (please do
attach it as a file)
Note that if there will be a poor problem description the issue status will
be changed to 'Invalid'!

Video of changes not applying here - http://goo.gl/HbU2Um

After initially installing the Padavan firmware on the N65U, configuration was
smooth. With respect to the Static DHCP leases, I was able to add and remove
entries through the GUI successfully. However, after several weeks, when I
tried to go and change some entries or disable the Manual DHCP assignment, I am
unable to do so. Restoring from a backup did not help either.

What browser?
Have you reset the router to factory defaults after you installed the firmware?

Tried Chrome and Firefox on both Mac and PC. Also tested with IE and Opera on
PC. The router was reset after initial installation of the custom firmware
over the factory firmware. I have not tried resetting to factory defaults
again in hopes of not having to manually reconfigure everything. I did try
restoring from a previous backup (without factory reset) when I first
encountered this problem.

That's ok. There is no need to reset settings every time.
Seems to be strange... I've tried again in Chrome on Mac - I can't see any
problem. Have you tried to clean browser cache? Can you that anything happens
in syslog? (dnsmasq should be restarted)

I will try clearing browser cache when I get back home. I did try opening an
Incognito window in Chrome which should essentially be a fresh session, but it
didn't work. There were no errors in system log, and I did try rebooting the
router to see if that cleared the problem.

I mean, when you press 'save' button dnsmasq should be restarted. It should be
recorded to syslog. This confirms that action was executed. If there are no new
records, then nothing really happened.

Ah, I see. I'll check to see that dnsmasq was restarted after trying to apply
the changes. Will update in a few hours...

OK. Cleared caches in multiple browsers with the same result. Trying to
disable "Manual DHCP Assignment" does not change anything in the system log. I
can switch off the DHCP server on the same page, and apply that change and it
shows in the logs.

So, I can only suggest you to restore firmware default settings. Then configure
it manually. Do not use a file with saved settings.
I can't see any problem using the same device, on the same firmware. (tried on
Mac in Chrome, Safari, Firefox; on Linux in Chrome, Firefox)

Thanks for the suggestion. I went ahead and did that, but haven't checked
whether the problem still persists. I'm just added static leases to anoter
file and set the option in dnsmasq.conf. Thanks for your assistance!
