can't load library 'libz.so.1'

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.running "./upgrade.sh"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
it should install firmware but it gives me error saying 

/tmp/asm1042/104xfwdl: can't load library 'libz.so.1'
FAILED to get ASM1042 current firmware version! Terminate.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
i use rt-n56u router. currently 3.0.0.4.376_3637 firmware from asus.
I also use PuTTY to run all commands connected through telnet.

It can be applied using this firmware only! It shouldn't install main firmware, 
but usb firmware only!
