The interface is nicely uncluttered now that the workspace is in a separate sidebar. On the other hand, it is core to our lizard approach and we've hidden it away!

So... what do we do?

Implement graceful degradation.

for low resolution devices, hide everything non essential
for workstations and such, always show all menus

Someone really ought to define these requirements in a usability / UX document.

Or, make everything smaller. Currently a lot of screen real estate is wasted on big web 2.0 buttons and bars.

"wasted" = "it actually works acceptably on an ipad"

And more space gives a luxurious feel. I don't want 6px fonts and a hugely cluttered interface :-)
