Also not sure about this. It makes it so you can't see the player sprites as well at the beginning so it's harder to tell who is who. It might be better to start players lower in the field to see the lava instead. Or just don't make a change.
On a properly-sized screen, would making players this small really make it that hard to distinguish them? I obviously know what to expect, so I admit I cannot be the judge of this, so it is a genuine question.
Personally, of the two pull requests you just made, I think this one would more likely be beneficial than the other one. But if the characters are initially impossible to distinguish because of it, that could be a problem.
Additionally, this lowers the utility of initial bazooka charges.
Let's not start the players farther apart, but instead play with the zoom at game start before zooming in on them and letting the action commence.
Any disagreements on whether to close this without merging?

Closing.
Allows players to see the entire field at the beginning of the game, acquainting them with the lava sooner.
