Open zupo opened 7 years ago

zupo commented 7 years ago

After each meetup, walk around and ask people if they could give a talk then add them to this list. When a talk is given, check it out, so we don't repeat ourselves. When organizing a new meetup, contact proposed speakers if they could do it on this meetup.

Talk proposal for one of the next meetups: "Extending GIMP with Python".

The GNU Image Manipulation Program is one of the most well known open source drawing applications. This talk is a brief introduction to writing GIMP plug-ins in Python and is based on past year of my experience developing them: what is possible and what not, how to get started, what to watch out for.

Tentative title: [beginner level] How to start using a Python IDE, a PyCharm story

Starting in Python can be daunting, especially when choosing an IDE. Should you use one? Which one? I opted for PyCharm (the poorman's version). I was thinking of presenting the basic usage of PyCharm. How to run a script, interactive use of python shell, terminal(s), debugging...

zupo commented 6 years ago

I've been eyeing PyCharm for a while now, so big +1 from me :D

romunov commented 6 years ago

It can be very overwhelming for novice to follow through all the foo you guys throw at us. A talk in this direction could perhaps give novice a spark of hope and is right down my Python competency level.

Proposed talk for September 2018 meetup: "Tips for junior developers and seniors working with them". cc @zupo

zupo commented 6 years ago

@romunov, @avian2: you have priority, do you both want to go for September?

romunov commented 6 years ago

I'm more than happy to forfeit to @avian2.

avian2 commented 6 years ago

I'm fine with doing the GIMP plugin talk at the September meetup.

inesp commented 5 years ago

@romunov @zupo hi, I'm proposing a talk with the title Applying Marketing Techniques to Developers' day-to-day for September's meetup or whenever there is a free spot :)
