Last week, just before my mind blew up, Chuck commented to me that he could not figure out how to change the radius of displayed stars.
I reminded him that it was in "Select stars to display" or whatever the menus said... and he pointed out that never-the-less, he hadn't recalled, nor easily found it.
Therefore, I propose we change nothing in the UI except this one thing.
On the zoom-in and zoom-out buttons, I would like something like this to happen:
This button zooms in (or out) on the set of stars currently selected.
If you want more, or fewer stars, a larger, or smaller radius, go to
View / Select stars to display or press (Some shortcut key)
[ ] Do not show this window again
and that will make the radius setter more visible. Putting a shortcut on that makes sense because it is something you'll do a lot.

I suggest CTRL-D or CTRL-S for display or select.
I'll get you the edited menu later today.
