I think WebCat is better than the native browser in many ways, but

I would like to use DuckDuckGo as the search engine.

This is possible to set in the settings.

And how is that done exactly?

Settings > General > Search Engine. DuckDuckGo is listed there.

I had to remove WebCat and install it again for that option to appear.
