i think if you feel like changing it we can stick to that principle (and also enforce it going forward when faced with user requests that fall outside of that purpose).
Could you elaborate on this? I'm not sure I follow what you're saying.
Based on experience answering hundreds of users questions, users don't tend to think of MinGW as "unusual" or a "cross-compiler", but it does seem to require use of --query-driver to work well.
