would it be possible to add a simple code example for dimension reduction on images with some pre-trained model for real-world images?

I think the sort of thing you would likely want to be looking at would be the new ParametricUMAP code that is in the 0.5dev branch to do a good job with that sort of thing. There are some notebooks in that branch that you could look at. I'm not sure they are the examples you want, but it would get you somewhere.
