Future bitmap display implementation is planned. See for example issue#5.

A font map shall be provided to offer the write_char service.

Requirements:

font map shall be dynamically selectable, if enabled to do so and memory is enough.
no graphics routines (gfx) are planned, perhaps only very basic operations can be implemented but main goal is to provide textual user interface
shall transparently support current APIs
