LM Studio window gets all black sometimes #98

Open AdamKlob opened 2 months ago

AdamKlob commented 2 months ago

This Happened on Windows 11 and on Linux Ubuntu 24.04 GFX cards: GTX 1660 and RTX 3060 mobile.

After some time and genearting a lot of content (it happens way earlier on Linux), LM Studio window gets all black, while generating content. LM Studio is still working and finishes generating content. Window can be closed using closing widget. After reopening, LM Studio works correctly (until it blacks again) image

We’ve been investigating this bug and don’t yet have a direct fix. But it’s possible it’s alleviated in the latest 0.3.2 rev (build 6) available here: https://lmstudio.ai/beta-releases.

would be good to get feedback from folks whether it still happens with the newer build

I have been using the new build extensively this morning. It took a lot longer to happen, but it did still happen.

AdamKlob commented 1 month ago

Still happens in 0.3.3,

yagil commented 1 month ago

We have a candidate fix for this. Is anyone here available for testing?

LuckyGreyHare commented 2 weeks ago

Still happens in 0.3.5 .

Edit - I'm not a programmer but here I'll try to describe the problem more. The black screen occurs frequently when I use a llama3 70B model (which runs really slow). It doesn't occur when I use a llama3 8B model (which runs smoothly).
