Create table for the Code Reporter #80

The Code Reporter ran for three volumes from 1848 to 1851. Like many early case reporters, it contains a mix of news items and editorial comment, but the bulk of the volumes are reports of cases interpreting and applying the new Field Code.

Some--perhaps all or nearly all--of the case reports are unique to the Code Reporter and are not in CAP. But the Code Reporter was cited thousands of times in treatises and the case reports are hugely significant to the history of the Field Code and the emerging field of civil procedure.

Citational variants from the treatises are standardized on the whitelist to Code Rep.

The job is modest enough for an RA to capture all of the case reports from the Code Rep. and apply the same meta-information CAP does--date, jurisdiction, court, author, etc.

I just need to know the format of the entries to assign the RA. If we could gin up a csv or json file for one case report (making a field available to enter a parallel cite from CAP if one is found), I can pass the model on to the RA to fill out the rest.

I propose we could use Bennett v. Hughes as our model case. It has all the pieces we'd want to catalog but is short and straightforward. A plain text OCR is attached.

Got it. I'm going to import all of these all at once. But I've looked it over and this seems great.

I assume volume 1 is complete. Are there more volumes?

Figuring out the Code Reporter citations has to be separate from the main CAP approach, so temporarily deferring this.

kfunk074 commented 1 year ago

There are three volumes. The attached is not quite the complete run, but the RA has gotten into volume 3. It's setting up pretty much how we expected, except that some pages have more than one reported case/holding on them. That's a problem that will come up from time to time across CAP, but may be more acute with this reporter.

The final and complete table of the Code Reporter. Would be useful to incorporate into my book this summer if possible. I should double check our whitelist to make sure it is accurately logging cites to the Code Reporter.
