Change to use configurable settings #33

This updates the BeagleBone code to use configurable settings.

Do not merge this. I merged in Agocs branch so that I wouldn't end up with a lot of conflicts to resolve once his landed in master. Land this after his PR is accepted.

Now that agocs test mode branch is merged, I rebased and pushed this change. It should be easier to review now.
