I believe it goes against the DAO and only serves to promote the Artist more than the Artist promoting us. He should pay us :)
Don't see the win/win scenario Lobs would be looking for nor the artist as any catalyst.
Against it. NoCopyrightSounds sounds pleb.
I would consider a music clip as a "promotional material". I'm no expert to consider it as a "collectible artwork", or "symbol", etc.
I believe the clip will help to introduce the DAO to quite a few thousands of people. But l'm not sure those people can benefit from a DeFi DAO, neither the DAO can benefit of them much, unless a hype wave occurs. Nothing wrong, just different "target audiences".
That said, I'd consider 1 common lobs plus a share in royalties as a pretty fair deal -- provided that the DAO gets all the rights incl. re-selling, renting out, any commercial use, unlimited free public performance, etc. (a copyright expert's advise would fit here). The artists retain authorship, of course. The royalties are subject to discussion.
It would be good to have an estimate (if not guarantee) of unique views. It would also be good to watch and discuss the clip before final release (if the deal is agreed, of course).
Personally I would regard that 1 lobs as a price of onboarding a really working artist to the community. I'm still not sure if it will work out or not.
In general I would support 1 common lobs for a music video with ~100K views, with the above provisions -- as an experiment with unclear outcome.
We pre-negotiated it down to 1 LOBS for the song. The price is definitely fair for the work and the impact of the channel.
I, however, still don't see a point in having a song like that made. The exposure it would give us is not at all related to crypto/defi and idk how much it would be able to bond us better for community value's sake.
Imo, we can have it as a "promotional material" to use wherever possible. E.g. what if it could be played at the today's conference in Portugal.
Personally I believe that hype is a big deal in crypto. Otherwise we wouldn't have had canine coins and tons of jepegs. I'd even talk about hyponomics and hypomentals. I'm only not sure that our very case can pay itself off in this way. Also, a music video may have its own value as a work of art, but I'm not an expert to judge contemporary art.
UPD. Also today it may be a bit early for promotions. Honestly, not muh to promote yet.
Seems premature at this time
i see no need for this at the moment
Consensus appears to be that we don't want it. Closing.
We can get an official LobsterDAO song made with a 3D video by an upcoming artist called ZeusXCorona for 3ETH or 4LOBS(cheaper to liquidate and pay ETH). Could be a fun thing
