Scope additional Subsite Extras work

Background

Hammersmith & Fulham/ Chicken have added two extra abilities to subsites:

• add any LGD content format to a subsite (eg directories, news, events)
• provide a custom menu for the subsite

Essex is co-funding work to bring this functionality to all LGD councils. The latest release of this is at https://github.com/localgovdrupal/localgov_subsites_extras

As there will be some dev/ design work for any council that wishes to adopt it, we decided on a standalone module rather than including it in the existing Subsites module. In time we could include this additional functionality in Subsites and deprecate Extras.

Work remaining

• Understand precisely what the Subsites Extras module provides (Mark has produced a video for Essex showing this) and the extra permissions needed for content designers to make full use of it

• Design work to make the module as plug and play as possible. Work has been done in Essex and Dumfries and Galloway so let's combine efforts

• Controls we could provide in LGD admin for council teams to reduce dev overhead (eg set up colorways rather than a dev needing to do CSS work)

• Documentation for councils to install and use it (@benhillsjones will be making a start on this after a meeting on 10th April)

Will is going to suggest a meeting between interested councils (Essex, H&F and Dumfries & Galloway) to get this work done.

Dev jobs

• adding a new menu on install (giving councils a place to store all subsite menu items) (0.5d)
