Hi Chris, the camera control software in the kiosks was written against Canon's EDSDK 2.10. Their SDK officially supports the following Canon SLRs:
Any of these cameras should work with the kiosk software without modification, but I can't guarantee anything since we've only tested with the T2i.
Rebuilding the control chunk of the software agains the more recent EDSDK 2.11 would add support for a few of the later model SLRs. (Specifically the EOS Rebel T4i, EOS 5D Mark III, and the EOS-1D X.)
Currently I have a kiosk deployed with a Canon T2i attached to it. We're looking to roll out more kiosks, but when looking at prices, the T3i is now more expensive than the T2i. Is there a programming standard for controlling SLR cameras, or is it known that Canon implements things the same way so I could use a T3i with the kiosk? Or would it not work, for whatever reason?
Thanks!
