Curator information #3080

It looks like pathoplexus has curators or at least the concept of a curator (superuser?). I think the curator information should be visible on the pathogen page. There are a few reasons why I think this is important:

  1. It humanizes pathoplexus instances, users can see clearly who is wrangling their data.
  2. Provides an avenue to reach out to the curation team, instead of generic email (hello@...)
  3. It boosts the profile of curators giving them credit for their work (which they can use in their cv), it also gives an incentive to curators to participate with pathoplexus
  4. It makes pathoplexus more community driven compared to a souless data consuming organisation
  5. It gives confidence to submitters that their data is being managed by experts instead of the faceless

There is some precedence for this, for example bigsdb has curators which are domain experts. Nextstrain and Nextclade lists authors and links to the build repo.

Thanks @ammaraziz. We agree and do plan to increase the visibility of curators, once we on-board additional domain experts (which is progressing next week). The current curation team is listed at the bottom of here . We definitely plan to put these on their own page in the near future after further on-boarding - the current merged page is temporary. We don't currently explicitly limit curators to particular pathogens, but we can consider that in future.

Great to hear this is on your radar. Giving more visibility to the curator team and domain experts will imo elevate pathoplexus.

Feel free to close this issue if it's planned out.
