Create storyline #66

Create a full storyline for Vilify.

Any parameters or basic sketch of storyline decided previously?

As far as I know, we only have a concept that is in README.md

Ok then, i'll start.

The world is in chaos...... The mad scientist created a zombie apocalypse a few years ago and kept the recipe ever since. The heroes managed to stop his first attempt to end the world. But he didn't stop there. He discovers the final ingredient to create the doomsday device in which he plans to end the world (for the second time). After he sacked his rival ego manic co-scientist a couple days ago the guy spills the plan to the whole world.

The heroes go out to stop the mad scientist once and for all now. So he recreates his zombies and other monsters in his complex lab as a defense system. He also prepares the towers and all other heavy arsenal he has to protect his lab while he finishes creating the doomsday device which will take 30 days. Every day waves of harder and stronger heroes attack the lab. Time is running out and if they reach the central core of the facility before the 30 days needed the device cannot be completed.

At the end...If you defend well... The device is completed and the scientist ends the world...

Hmm... I was thinking of more like Megamind... I mean, that was what I was thinking, but this could work as well.

Why is the world in chaos if the Mad Scientist (Hereby named Gerald)'s first attempt (aforementioned zombie apocalypse) is clearly stated as being stopped? Why does Gerald employ his Rival (Hereby Bob) in the first place?

Is he still building the device when he fires Bob? Why does he fire Bob? If he already caused a Zombie Apocalypse, does he attempt to destroy the world because he's bored of Zombies? Don't forget we have to explain all this in a comic at the beginning of the first level.

You have 3 options:

  1. Rework the lore (and prolouge) and fill in any plotholes
  2. Leave it as is and explain the plotholes dragonfable style (Magic!)
  3. Let someone else write the plot or use the existing plot

I think the best thing to do would be to create a story that could be explain in just a few picture with little/no text. (think angry birds)

How about this:

Gerald, the Mad Scientist, has created a new flavor of ice cream, the superheroes hear about it and rush to the lab to steal it from him.

@TheSentinel387 The story could always be changed but the second part of my story line (the 30 days.. more harder waves...if heroes reach the central core = game over idea) seems quiet unique in terms of a tower defense game. What do u guys think?

Just to clarify, I was joking the first time, but as @TheSentinel387 said it's not really a bad idea... it short, simple, and adds some humor to the game. Also, I like @M-Hc0d3's 30 days idea, maybe we could find some way to integrate it into the the ice cream storyline? :D

@sru We don't need the doomsday device and it would free up space on the screen if we got rid of it.

How about you could change the storyline from the original into the one with ice cream with a cheat code?

yerah we could add an achievement on the website for finding how to change it to thje icecream story Maybe it takes 30 days to eat all the ice-cream ?

Maybe for the regular story-line our mad scientist tries to hold the world for ransom Dr. Evil style, but no one takes him seriously (perhaps his doomsday device is laughable or malfunctioning) so he works on making the ultimate weapon over the 30 days/waves to either destroy the earth or hold it hostage again (multiple endings?)

I like @logan-r 's idea, though it could have more twist.

Gerald, a mad scientist, creates an ice cream flavor so great that penguins would swim to his laboratory just to taste it. After failed attempt of zombie apocalypse and doomsday bomb, he wants to dominate the world economically by controlling ice cream industry, and heroes come in to destroy the device...

Possible slide storyboard (Sorry for the quality, I don't have access to a scanner at the moment)

  1. Our mad scientist, hard at work 2. We see the exterior of the United Nations, 3. as well as the interior meeting. 4 & 5 He makes a dramatic entrance with his doom-ray or whatever. 6. Everyone turns around in surprise. 7. He makes his demands but 8. his invention fails him. 9 & 10 Pause from everyone then laughter. 11& 12 Angry, he storms out, 13 heading to his lair. 14 & 15 He places his doomsday device on the workbench and brandishes his tools. 16. dramatic lightning and stuff

Combining @Trev42's and @sru's ideas:

Gerald, the mad scientist, has built a world destroying weapon. He then goes to the United Nations meeting and tries to make them pay him lots of money not to destroy the world. He tries to do a demonstration of his power by using his weapon to destroy Washington DC, but it doesn't work. He is laughed out of the UN meeting. Irate, he storms out and goes back to his evil lair to work on his next diabolical plan... an ice cream flavor so great that penguins would swim to his laboratory just to taste it. And much to his surprise it works... now all the worlds superheroes are attacking his lab in a last attempt to get his ice cream recipe and to stop him from controlling the world via controlling ice cream industry.
