iOS app keeps freezing #9615

What Happened?

Ios app not working at all Keeps refreshing and syncs after a long time Once synced, becomes unusable as it keeps refreshing

Reproduce the Bug

  1. Open logseq on ios
  2. App freezes
  3. Sync icon shows as yellow

Expected Behavior

A working app in a few mins

No clue. Any operation before the situation happens?

  1. Are you setting up the graph for the first time? Or it works well before?

  2. Are you using the same latest Logseq on ALL devices?

  3. What's the meaning of "it keeps refreshing"? Do you mean "the icon keeps yellow"? Then can you take a screenshot on the dropdown list of the cloud icon?

  4. Does re-installing app help?

Not sure if related - I don't use sync feature, I sync manually through git for ios client. I've got similar experience with ios app though. In my case, once i open logseq it takes couple of seconds to load changes from filesystem, then when it finally loads i'm stuck on the first page until it refreshes DB after loaded changes, then - since there is no search button on the first access I have to click somewhere in the screen to start editing so i can exit it so search icon pops up at the bottom, when I click on it and I start typing name of the page I want to open, it again freezes for couple of seconds and then i can finally get to the page I want. If i need to switch apps within ios for couple of seconds and i come back to the logseq it is often "closed" so i have to start all over again (without files and DB refresh). I do have larger pages though (larger like 400 blocks).

I have iphone 12 mini with the latest ios and the latest logseq.

I am using the native Logseq sync feature. It worked well for 3 months after I signed up. Still works on my Mac and windows Laptop. Doesn’t work on the ios App only.

The moment I enter one line of data in the ios app, it starts syncing and getting refreshed. Have followed all the instructions for setting up logseq sync.

By refreshed, I meant that the screen kept reloading.

Now it’s just freezing. Please see screenshot. However much I exit the app and restart, it just remains frozen.

I am using an iPhone 12.

I'm having the same problem. For me it seems to have started after I migrated notes over from Evernote. I converted them to md and then moved them into my pages folder. Ever since then iPad version of Logseq syncs fine but the iPhone version does not. I'm a paid backer using Logseq sync.

For me the yellow updating dot stays yellow but also the whole app refreshes every 30 seconds (screen goes blank and come back on). For a brief second I have functionality and then it all freezes again.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, removed the graph from my phone and re-synced. But still the app is useless. This has been going on fro three weeks. If I go to the Logseq folder on my iphone I can see all the pages, assets, etc... But the app just won't work.

My graph has 3848 pages (including journal pages).

Logseq isn't working correctly on my iphone12, iOS16.6

It works fine on my MacBook Pro 2019; and on my ipad Pro, ipadOS 16.6

Same experience. Though I have not tried my iPad. I have tried on two iPhones and the experience is the same. The logseq ios app had an update recently, and that too did not resolve this issue.

Here is a video so you can see what it does. I'm tapping on the menu to try to make something happen, but you'll see it goes all white and then comes back to the menu. It stays frozen. I've reinstalled many times but have the same issue. It works great on iPad but not on iPhone.

There seems to be no solution. I became a backer so I could use sync, and yes I understand this is beta, but I'm about to stop. I need logseq to sync to my phone. I'm tired of how buggy this app is, which is a shame because I really love the concept and use the desktop like crazy. But I'm beginning to search for alternatives.

Same here. I have moved onto another app, as the phone usage is a must for me. It’s quite an effort to move over to a new app, as it involves changing my workflow and patterns that I have built up in logseq for my PKM.

I loved logseq and it’s a shame that I have moved on.

I’m trying to give Logseq more time, thinking that each update will solve my iPhone iOS version issue. But nothing yet. Now I’m getting this error (attached) IMG_2629

This should be fixed by #10081. If you are in TestFlight beta user, could you help try the TF release 0.9.15?

I would love to see this fixed but stopped using the TestFlight version when you told early Sync'ers they shouldn't. How can I get back on TestFlight? Logseq lists as "Previously Tested / Build removed". Thanks.

I am a testflight user, but I don't see 0.9.15 listed. It lists the most recent testflight version as 0.0.4... which is expired.

Yes, I'm still having this issue. Much as I love logseq, my inability to use it on iOS has made me really sad. I've given up on trying to sync to iOS until the database version is out. (When will that be?)

I too continue to have the same issue. Have tried to update each time an ios version was released. The sync never worked. It’s been months now and I have stopped trying.

I also stopped trying. I actually started paying for Obsidian sync so that I could at least read and search my graph on my phone. It requires some manual steps, but works better than Logseq ever did. My hope is that this will be fixed by the database version they are working on now. I understand that this is a major refactoring of the code and will take time. I know the team is working hard on it, and so I'm willing to be patient. But long term, I really need to have iOS access to my graph and two-way sync...
