Please see #26 for a full write up of the reasoning for this PR.

In essence, I am hoping to reduce the "chatter" caused by this plugin when running with INFO log-level.

I think the build error is unrelated to my change.

Regardless, if changes are required I'd be happy to make any that are requested.
