Do you know why some images are not showing in my email on my Samsung Galaxy S4?

Is it a certain format that are not displaying?

I would need to go into Amazon S3 and check few things. Could you give me your credentials in email to verify something. Thanks.

Email: jdaudier@outlook.com Pwd: f00drubix

LMK when you're done and I'll switch the password back. Thanks

What are you using to read your message? phone and app? Thanks. Also by default email clients don't download images, you need to specifically tell him to download images as well. What I could do is put the email styling a bit better when there is no images.

Samsung Galaxy S4 and using the default email app that comes with the phone. And the screenshot I sent is after I download the images. Some show up which means it could be the format?

loicginoux commented 11 years ago

I think the common point to these images are the fact that they use PNG transparency. Before I start changing all theses images, I will change first the default picture for a user. If you see these default images in the leaderboard on the next email, let me know and I will change the rest.

I think we should keep the logo as PNG though so that it's clearer. The profile images can be jpeg.

jdaudier commented 11 years ago

And leave the smiley face as PNG as well. It's ok if I can't view logo and that one.

loicginoux commented 11 years ago

did the default user picture worked on today's email?

jdaudier commented 11 years ago

I didn't get the email today. Did you? What happened?

loicginoux commented 11 years ago

Sorry I don't understand. Normally the email is sent at 14:10pm UTC. This should happen in 20 minutes. Am I wrong?

jdaudier commented 11 years ago

OK I got the email. I'm in NYC right now and I thought the system would send it out in east coast time. Do you know if it's supposed to do that?

jdaudier commented 11 years ago

Here's how the emails looked today. Do you think it has to do with the file name?

Concerning the time it sends the email, it depends on the timezone registered with your user account. The timezone is set when you create your account. It is not updated later. Is that a problem? Do you want me to add in the settings page a timezone select box?

loicginoux commented 11 years ago

Also for the picture, the problem is not about png transparency as I changed the user picture to a basic jpeg file but it still didn't appear.

jdaudier commented 11 years ago

Time zone question: We can leave it as is for now.

Picture: Any idea why some don't show?

jdaudier commented 11 years ago

Can we keep logo and the smiley face as PNG format so it's clearer?

loicginoux commented 11 years ago

Have you tried with another mail client? Which Android version is it? It seems to be a problem in the default mail client from android. see: https://code.google.com/a/apache-extras.org/p/phpmailer/issues/detail?id=126

The thing that I don't understand is why some can display while others don't. Also can you change again your S3 password for today please? thank you.

loicginoux commented 11 years ago

logo and smileys haven't changed, there are still png.

jdaudier commented 11 years ago

OK Amazon pwd is now back to: f00drubix

jdaudier commented 11 years ago

I think the user images that are not showing up is the default image since that's PNG format, correct?

So maybe we just close this issue since it might be an Android email app thing. I was able to view the email ok in my Gmail native app on my phone.

loicginoux commented 11 years ago

I thought it was due to png or gif files but I changed the default user picture to be a jpg file and it still didn't fix it.

jdaudier commented 11 years ago

OK can we change default user pic back to PNG then since it'll be clearer?

loicginoux commented 11 years ago

ok
