Also to prevent player from prematurely stacking more ducks than needed to saturate the need. I propose that the more player has the ducks than the need, the faster the addiction would decline, with an possibility of accidentially losing this 'gift', the machanics of this should be hidden from the player and never stated anywhere, so to player's knownledge the only proper way of getting rid of the addiction is to kill yellow ducks.
About no. 1, ducks should only lose their 'freshness' when carried in the inventory/backpack, they should be safe in other storages/in the world so player can store excess
With those changes, yellow Mr. Duck should be able to be asked about specifics on how to live/deal with the addiction
To follow with the other addictions the sauna could help but not fix the addiction
As a result of another discussion on discord, there is also a proposal to add different types of ducks of different colors (like Pink and Purple I guess), with each having stronger effects on the addiction need and be of an higher value.
For instance: instead of needing 2 fresh yellow ducks, a one pink one will sustain the same amount of need and itself will last longer to gray out.
To counteract the distribution of the higher-value ducks, one of the ideas as the only way of getting them could be some sort of an gatcha machine in the Hostel. Perhaps one type of ducks (middle strenght) could be found very rarely from looting and as a machine reward, while an other type (higher strenght) be only gettable from machine.
the duck addiction is more or less a joke addiction but with how it stands right now it makes things to easy and is the only addiction that you cant get rid of once accepting it so here is a small revamp of it.
1: ducks now get used up, instead of just having a few stacks of ducks in your inv you now would need to get new ducks every now and then (you can tell when a duck is used up is when they lose their color going from yellow to grey and sad looking) this would add a cost to duck addiction and in turn make the duck vending machines have a use
2: curing duck addiction, to cure such an addiction you need to fallow the teaching of (yellow) mr duck and behead ducks (basicly put a duck on the ground and behead it but it has to be a non used duck to lose addiction points) in turn of committing such a crime to duckmanity your mental state will be hit drastically, this would make getting rid of the addiction a commitment as you will wreck your mental state to be free of this ''gift'' (also if you do get rid of the addiction youll have a chance to relapse if you have ducks on you)
3: effects on the world, when the player is addicted to ducks all tvs in the players apartment would only play the duck channel and maybe the player would find ducks in containers where they couldn't spawn before
