1 month ago I think that if player returns the blue duck within a day since Mr. Duck's order (leaving the blue duck item anywhere within the apartment), then everything would be fine. Only forgetting/postponing the return would result in finding the guy commit suicide. That way player still has a chance of correcting their mistake. Mr. Duck should also be very serious about the urgency of returning the duck.
(suggested by nextej) would be that you could steal the once blue duck in kolhola (it would need to be changed back) and bring it to (blue) mr duck he will say its not the right one and if you return to the apartment youll see that you took another sufferer of duck addictions precious duck as youll find them dead in their apartment as they couldn't live without their friend, this could also lead into a scene with the osrat where you see the effects duck addiction has onto ppl
