From my pov, the sidebar panel for the structure of a work should be somewhat more prominent. I think navigating a text is essential but currently the viewer provides the necessary buttons etc. not in a way I think most users are accustomed to.

It seems to me the info panel is the most important, which is why it is the default view. It tell you what your current "resource" focus is.

ok, I guess the "structure" / "outline" view could be moved to the second icon from the left. That's a small adjust, but I'm not sure how to make it more prominent than than.

Yes, making it the 2nd panel butten will help. Maybe also adding a link on the info panel to the structure view could be a solution, below the Citation info and above the Available Manifestations info?
