one of our users patched idba_ud to be able to use up-to-date NGS techniques which generates longer short reads (300 in her case). Since the patch seems to work I was thinking it would be useful also for others.

Is this request still open, or has it been addressed? It looks like you merged the patch into the main branch, so this should be closed?

I would still like to get this merged. The patch in https://github.com/bioconda/bioconda-recipes/pull/8790 only applies to the bioconda distribution.
