Upgrading alien armor while soldier is out infiltrating "bricks" the upgrade #1329

Send a soldier out on a mission with M1 Serpent armor equipped. While he is gone attempt to upgrade the armor through the Engineering menu. The resources are consumed and you can no longer upgrade the armor but it remains unchanged on the soldier during infiltration, during the mission they go on, and after they return to Avenger. In short, you "brick" the upgrade.

~~This is probably connected to #1248~~. I raised a Community Highlander issue that has a bit more discussion on the topic. We clearly need a solution that fixes both problems rather than oscillating between them.

Edit: I don't think #1248 itself is connected to this since it affects a different set of items.
