It would be nice to log all blocked connection attempts in a log file on the SD 
card, so that it could be investigated what application wants to talk to which 
servers.

This has been requested already (quite a long time ago) on issue 2.

It seems that the majority of Android ROMS include a very limited version of 
iptables
which does not include the LOG target.

So unfortunately, this cannot be implemented.

Just for historical purposes: this was implemented later in 1.4.2. See issue 44.
